All You Need to Know About the GTA The Trilogy

GTA The Trilogy

Probably the most iconic games from the earlier stages are GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. You can learn about the impact of these games from anyone who was born in the 90s. For now, GTA V is the newest and one of the most popular titles in the GTA series. However, the classic games from GTA have their own nostalgia value.

For people who want to play iconic games like GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas on their new gaming consoles and PCs, this is great news!

Earlier this month, Rockstart Games announced on Twitter that they are going to be launching Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. This package will include three remastered games. The GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas.

What Are Remastered Games?

To explain remastered games, let’s take an example of the GTA series itself. GTA III was released in 2001, followed by the launch of GTA Vice City in 2002 and GTA San Andreas in 2004.

These games were wildly popular back in the days and people from that time still want to play them but because of poor graphics and compatibility issues, they can’t enjoy them on their modern gaming setups.

So what gaming companies do is, remaster the very old games to make them compatible with modern-day PCs and gaming consoles.

The manufacturers basically enhance the graphics and textures of the games so that they look modern. They do not change the main storyline, characters, or anything major in the game most of the time.

It is better-looking locations, characters, graphics, and textures. The main goal is to make the old games look up to date so that users get the best gaming experience.

Remastered games are quite popular because they always have that sentimental value attached to them.

Release Date

When it comes to launching date, Rockstar Games have always been the company that doesn’t give you anything. Today is the 20th anniversary of GTA III. It was launched on 22 October 2001 and it was an iconic game of its era.

Now this whole remastered GTA The Trilogy is to mark the 20-year mark for GTA III. Although, Rockstart Games didn’t release the game today they did tell us the release date for it.

According to Rockstar Games on Twitter, “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be available digitally on November 11 through the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store on Xbox, Nintendo eShop, and the Rockstar Games Launcher, with select physical releases on December 7”

So you can buy purchase the game through online platforms starting November 11 and the physical games will be available starting December 7.

You should know that the remastered GTA San Andreas will be available on the Xbox Game Pass starting November 11. On the other hand, the remastered GTA III will arrive on PlayStation Now by December 7.

So when it comes to compatibility, you will not face any issues. You will be able to play all the games of the trilogy on your modern PCs and gaming consoles.

The trilogy will also be compatible with Android and iOS. The smartphone versions will arrive at the starting of 2022.

What Will Be The Improvements?

As you can see from the trailer, the majority of the improvements are in terms of graphics. The graphics quality looks more stunning now. With new improved textures, the building, cars, characters, and everything looks more vibrant.

I personally liked the way they improved Vice City’s visuals, the story is still the same but the overall aesthetics are far better now.

Then there are enhancements for different platforms too. For instance, you can now run the three games of the trilogy in 4K at 60FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

On PC, you can take advantage of NVIDIA DLSS(Deep Learning Super Sampling) for upscaling. Even Nintendo Switch users will have gyro controls and touchscreen support to play the games.

Pricing

The price for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy– The Definitive Edition is USD 60. Now that is a bit on the expensive side but with all of those enhancements and nostalgic value the games have, it will be worth it.
