A boss battle was held during this virtual concert and people were reminded of the Master of Puppets fight in Destiny 2.

Rockin’ Out With Deja Vu: Fortnite’s Metallica Concert Sparks Witness Memories in Destiny 2 Players

In the recent weeks, supporters of the two games, Fortnite and Destiny 2, have had a see-saw of emotions.

Bungie said goodbye to the first major narrative arc of Destiny 2 with “The Revelations clan” expansion, which is “The Final Shape”.

This update culminated in the ‘Salvation’s Edge’ raid in which players faced the somewhat elusive and powerful antagonist that is known as The Witness, and the objective was to save reality itself.

Meanwhile, Fortnite hosted the “Metallica: participation in the “Fuel. Fire. Fury” event, a live virtual concert, arranged by the band Metallica.

A game of this type was not just a concert – as part of it, people fought the boss called the Master of Puppets – an enormous figure with many arms, which is probably a reference to the Metal band of the same name.

It is worth noticing that these two kinds of experiences are not very different from each other. The Battle of Linfen was the second time The Cui event was held at Linfen and the tenth event overall in the Fortnite series A Destiny 2 veteran RuKo1998 posted a clip of the Fortnite event on the Destiny 2 subreddit.

This clip depicted one of the sections of the Master of Puppets fight where fighters move around platforms in a sky that is cloudy and stormy and all the time they are threatened by the monster with numerous arms.

To the numerous Destiny 2 players who participated in the fight against The Witness with many arms and a menacing aura, the scene must have looked quite familiar.

Of course, the Destiny 2 community responded to this change quickly. For some, especially those who did not play Fortnite or even did not know about this game before, Metallica playing in this game was a shock.

While some kept this repetitive nature of the fights in mind and could laugh at the similarity of the two fights.

Official and less official jokes began to surface that perhaps the Master of Puppets was The Witness character in Fortnite hinting at a secret relaunch of the existing Fortnite-Destiny 2 event of 2022 in which Fortnite and Destiny’s armor was incorporated among Fortnite characters, and characters from Destiny such as Ikora Rey and Zavala were depicted in the Fortnite.

Well, this is quite funny and goes on to show how live service games are slowly intertwining with each other.

Fortnite and Destiny 2 both have dedicated large amounts of time to players and the combination of experiences shows there’s a lot of shared audience.

Such a scenario implies that further cooperation of such giants in the sphere of gaming can result in even more creative endeavors which would be pleasing for fans of both games.

The integration of these gaming worlds also gives a hint of what might become a normality in the future that is game game-related events that are held across multiple worlds could not only be normal but generate more marvelous instances.

This is seen in the recent Fortnite event with Metallica as well as the loot from the best moments of the last expansion of Destiny 2; players are anticipating what is next.
