Season of Wonders in Pokémon GO has been a mixed bag of emotions for fans. The recent Avatar update has led to some players feeling disconnected amidst the new features and events.
But even with all the ups and downs of this season, one player’s miraculous ball made headlines and overshadowed recent issues.
Rare Catch: Pokémon GO Trainer Snags Bounsweet Rarer Than Shundos
Andzinkton is a Pokémon GO player who recently revealed their massive winnings on the game’s subreddit. Bounsweet Community Day was one of the year’s most anticipated events, and Andzinkton managed to do what many can only wish for – catch shiny nundo Bounsweet, which is even rarer than shundo.
A hundo is a Pokémon with perfect Individual Values (IVs) and a shundo, or shiny hundo, is even more rare – a hundo shiny Pokémon.
At the other end of the scale stands the ‘nundo’ – a Pokémon with the lowest possible IVs. However, nundos are not competitive in the market and are considered valuable pieces of collectors’ items because of their rarity.
This makes Andzinkton’s catch stand out in particular because shiny nundos can only be found in the wild and therefore are a lot more scarce than their counterparts that can be received through raids or traded.
This is further compounded by the fact that Andzinkton was lucky enough to find this ultra-rare Pokémon amidst tumultuous weather, making the whole experience seem almost serendipitous.
The Bounsweet Community Day event itself has also received a mix of feedback. Some players have claimed to have encountered multiple shiny Bounsweet, while others have not managed to come across even one of them.
This inconsistency has left the community frustrated, especially taking into account that Community Days are supposed to make the featured Pokémon less elusive for the trainers.
Andzinkton’s catch is a story of inspiration despite the overall negative perception of Bounsweet Community Day. It shows that even during such occasions, luck will come through and grant trainers seemingly unrealistic encounters.
While Pokémon GO players and Niantic continue to celebrate this historic event, one thing remains certain: Trainers love the game and keep it going.
Let us hope that Niantic, the developers of the game, will consider players’ suggestions and try to be more consistent in shiny rates during the next events.
