Final Fantasy XIV is one of the popular MMOs available out there. The game offers you great gameplay, and it is pretty interesting.
However, some gamers may want to enhance the game visuals. And if that’s the case with you, I will be sharing some of the best FFXIV mods and addons.
Using these mods, you would be able to enhance the game visuals. Also, add newer elements to Final Fantasy XIV.

So let’s quickly jump into the topic:
10 Best FFXIV Mods and Addons To Try
Alive Gshade Preset
At first, I had the Alive Gshade Preset mod. It is one of the best mods available, making Final Fantasy XIV more colorful.
It comes with a collection of Gshade presets designed to make the world of Eorzea more alive. The colors, SSSAO, and atmospheric fog are fine-tuned to offer you the perfect playable experience.
The mod doesn’t make massive changes to your game. Instead, it slightly enhances the visuals. Also, the latest version of the preset is upgraded, which adds advanced shading in both characters and the environment.
Next, there is the Material UI. The add-on is designed to replace FFXIV’s built-in theme. Plus, it brings in new changes to the game.
For instance, you will get to see new job icons, simple bars, enhanced inventory screen, duty finder, character, and several other changes.
The best part of the add-on is that it adds coordinates in the treasure map hunters built-in. However, as of now, it only has a dark mode.
Overall, the add-on slightly improves the game visuals, too, and you will indeed have fun playing with it.
Owl’s Eyes of Eorzea
If the Final Fantasy character’s eyes look dull to you, then you can give a try to the Owl’s Eyes of Eorzea mod. This mod is designed to overhaul all the eyes for all races and genders in Final Fantasy XIV.
Each eye texture was handcrafted with each specific race and gender in mind. As a result, you will get a realistic feel.
However, the mod doesn’t make any other changes to the game. But if you want to change the characters’ eyes, then definitely check the mod out.
Fr4nsson’s FFXIV Config (FFC)
Next, I have Fr4nsson’s FFXIV Config (FFC) add-on. This one offers you a complete config for FFXIV with a clean informational hud layout.
The mod makes it easy for you to use your spells better since all jobs have their spells assigned to hotbars.
Also, for the jobs that share the same spells or the same concept of a spell, the author tried to keep as many spells/concepts on the same keybinds as possible between jobs.
As a result, there is no need to remember all the spells, and you will have an easy hand in the game.
Touch of Real
You can also have a look at Touch of Real. The add-on can be used for improving the features of the male characters. If you do not like the original male faces in the game or want to try something new, this add-on is the one to try out.
This one comes with new realistic-looking faces, which improves the game’s overall look. The author designed all the faces and added a touch of realism. Also, the add-on is straightforward to install.
Up next, there is the Beautiful Eorzeans. This is another great mod that replaces the game’s character face textures with new and detailed ones.
What I like the most about this mod because there is no need to install it separately. Instead, it works as a shortcut that allows you to install only one mod instead of several others.
You can also check the Moogle Maps. This one can help you reduce your alt-tab quantity when going for an adventure on monster hunting or treasure hunting.
One of the best FFXIV mods can help you illustrate your map with zone hunts and mark the treasure maps area.
However, the mod isn’t perfect. It cannot track the Realm Reborn zones. But I am hopeful that the author will add the feature in the upcoming updates.
Flicker optimization and V-Sync stutter fix
Without any doubt, the grass in the FFXIV background looks pretty ugly. And if you don’t like them, you can try the Flicker optimization and V-Sync stutter fix add-on.
This one attempts to reduce or eliminate shimmering caused by grass and other terrain details. In contrast, the add-on can be handy. But you will need to have your graphics settings set to ultra. Plus, you will need a high-end GPU to run the mod.
As you can see in the name, the mod brings in significant changes to the game character’s face and hair. It works the same way as any other look enhancement mod.
The mod enhances the hair and the vanilla faces of all genders, races, and clans. So if you are bored of seeing the same dull faces of the game characters, you will surely love this mod.
In the end, there is the NPC Defined. Similar to Face Defined, the mod works as a texture upgrade. The mode will affect various NPC’s throughout the game. As a result, not just your game characters but every element of the game would look pretty.
So those were some of the best FFXIV mods and addons that you can try out. Now go ahead and check them out and see which one you like the most. Also, for any other questions, do feel free to comment below.
