Dr. Disrespect is known for being outspoken and competitive. However, he has received criticism for his trash-talking, sometimes taking it too far in games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 by saying expletives such as “f***ing c***sucker” and “f***ing f**got.”
The popular streamer was suspended from Call of Duty: Warzone 2 for allegedly overusing proximity chat, a feature that allows players to communicate with one another while they are playing a game.
Proximity chat, a feature introduced in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, brings players together by allowing them to hear each other’s conversations even when they’re not using their microphones.
This can be both a strength and also a potential weakness, however. Proximity chat allows players to overhear enemy squad members if they draw close enough, but it also gives them a chance to listen in on the opposing members’ conversations as well.

On November 24th, Dr. Disrespect announced on his live stream that he would be temporarily banned from the game for seven days due to proximity chat toxicity. The YouTuber said that he frequently played Call of Duty: Warzone 2 during his streams, but he never backed down from criticizing the new game mode or the looting system.
However, this recent ban appears to be his own doing; he admitted to overusing proximity chat before questioning whether it approached spam territory.
Although the streamer gives a “I’m not bothered” retelling that makes clear he is probably quite bothered by what happened, it seems unlikely that he was banned for a misogynistic comment. He was apparently suspended for calling one or more players a “pussy.”
This term is used in derogatory ways and is insulting to women, although it also feels like a harsh thing to be banned for, though it is against Call of Duty’s new code of conduct which explicitly targets “derogatory comments based on gender identity.”
He is also circumventing the ban on his Call of Duty: Warzone 2 account by playing on an alternate account. He admitted that this wasn’t even his account; it was banned for seven days for using proximity chat.
His other account, he says, was also banned because he used it to talk to other players in a game mode called “Party Chat.” He’s currently streaming video games with viewers who can’t enter Warzone 2 without a second account and are thus turning to Dr. Disrespect for help in finding answers and solutions.
The gamer also quit and uninstalled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 after being killed in a match and getting a seven-day suspension from developer Infinity Ward. He pointed out several times over his experience with the game how out of touch he believes Activision is as of late, especially since the company just suspended him on the eve of their $100,000 tournament.
While Dr. Disrespect is inspiring a large percentage of his fans with his criticisms of the game, some have begun to wonder whether it’s time for him to choose the high road.
