With a great fan base, Ark: Survival Evolved has become a popular game. In the game, Oil plays a very important role and is used for many purposes.
But, getting the Oil in Ark is not that easy. You have to be very focused on the game. However, in case you are unaware of how to get Oil in Ark Survival Evolved, make sure to read the guide until the end.
What is Oil in ARK Survival Evolved?
ARK Survival Evolved Gas, one of the items found in the game, is made using Oil, which can be found in several ways.
Among the many uses of Oil is for producing Gas, which can power a number of different structures that will help you to play the game more efficiently.
You can also make Jerky with Cooked Meat and Sparkpowder, which keeps food fresh for a very long time.
Oil is required in Ark Survival Evolved because it is crafting of many items, such as Absorbent Substrate, Cooked Meat Jerky, Cryopods, Fabricators, Gasolines, Mod: Godzillark, Acid Fluid, Grenade, Underwater Mine, Industrial Cooker, and Industrial Forge.
What is Oil Used For?
There is no doubt that Oil is a valuable resource in Ark; however, obtaining it is not always easy.
In most games, Oil is considered a mid-game to late-game resource, and while you may occasionally require some oil for the odd item, such as flamethrower propellant or spray painter propellant, when you unlock the electrical generator at level 49, you realize that collecting Oil is about to become a daily routine.
With the electrical generator, you will be able to utilize a whole new range of efficiency-enhancing items as well as numerous powerful weapons and tools.
There are generators inside the chemistry bench, refrigerators, turrets, elevators, lampposts, air conditioners, keypads, and lampposts.
In a forge, gasoline is made by combining Oil and hide, and the generator runs exclusively on gasoline every 30 minutes. To make enough gasoline to run your generator for 24 hours, you will need at least 48 gallons of Oil.
How to Get Oil in ARK Survival Evolved?
The best way to obtain Oil is to mine different nodes with a metal pick in order to gather it. According to the map, oil nodes usually spawn near the beach in the snow biome or around the mountains in the snow biome.
In addition to spawning deep underwater, the nodes form large chains along the map’s edges. In spite of this, the nodes on this map are a lot harder to reach than the ones on the surface, but based on the map, it could be the only option.
In order to farm underwater nodes, you’ll also need a pick, but a good underwater mount is recommended; we recommend the Angler because the light makes it easier to see. Oil can also be obtained in Ark: Survival Evolved in a few other ways.
The methods are applicable only to all maps except Scorched Earth and Extinction. Oil can be obtained on those maps using the methods listed below, along with other non-DLC methods.
More Ways to Get Oil
- Dung Beatles – Over time, taming Dung Beatles could provide you with a significant amount of Oil. It is because tamed Beatles gather resources as they wander over time, so you should allow them to wander. In addition, I recommend building a small area where they can roam since letting them roam the map unattended is not ideal.
- Dunkleosteus – If you have a leveled Dunkleosteus, mining the nodes will give you far more resources than anything else you can do.
- Basilosaurus – These aquatic creatures are similar to Dung Beatles in that they can produce oil. However, they are difficult to tame, so they are not recommended for beginners.
- Hesperonis eggs – When placed in a cooker, Hesperonis eggs can turn into Oil, so taming them might be a good option.
- Trilobites – During the early game in Ark, trilobites are the best way to get small amounts of Oil. In this method, however, killing one Trilo will trigger the rest to flee, making it more difficult to farm.
How to Get Oil on DLC Maps
- Scorched Earth – Oil can be farmed by harvesting dead Rock Elementals, placing an Oil pump, and hunting Jug Bugs.
- Aberration – In addition to the usual methods, oil deposits can be found deep underground in the map’s red zone. There are also Reaper Kings roaming around, rock drakes, and radiation in this area.
- Extinction – Oil can only be obtained by killing and harvesting Enforcers and Defense Units unless you carry over resources.
